High-performance multifunctional materials and structures have attracted particular attention in recent years owing to the increasingly higher requirements in engineering applications. From the view point of mechanics, such materials and structures should possess adequate load carrying capacity, serviceability, robustness and durability. From the view point of physics, they should exhibit good thermal insulation, noise protection, fire resistance and moisture proofing properties.

In the present talk, some related research activities and results obtained at the Chair of Structural Mechanics, School of Science and Technology, University of Siegen, Germany, will be reported and highlighted. In particular, some special properties and innovative applications of functionally graded materials (FGMs) and structures, phononic crystals (PCs) and structures, metamaterials, and smart (piezoelectric/piezomagnetic and magneto-electro-elastic) materials and structures will be analyzed and discussed.

报告人简介（50字左右）：

张传增教授是先进材料结构力学领域的国际知名专家，在智能材料与结构力学、功能梯度材料与结构力学、压电和磁电弹材料力学分析、弹性动力学、断裂动力学、计算力学、等方面具有很深的学术造诣。1986年获德国达姆斯塔特工业大学博士学位，1986至1988年在美国西北大学做博士后研究。2004年10月至今任德国锡根大学土木系结构力学教席C4教授。

张教授现为西北工业大学顾问教授，英国威塞克斯技术学院客座研究员，同济大学兼职教授，哈尔滨工业大学客座教授，哈尔滨工程大学客座教授，南京航空航天大学客座教授，中国建材研究总院客座教授，北京交通大学名誉教授，国务院侨务办公室专家咨询委员会委员。曾任世界华人计算力学协会副主席。于2014年当选为欧洲科学院院士，2015年被授予斯洛伐克工业大学荣誉博士，2015年当选为欧洲科学与艺术院院士，2016年当选为欧洲人文与自然科学院院士。
